About the Team


The Tooling team at giffgaff are responsible for the CI\CD software delivery pipelines that the whole technology department use to get new features out to members.

The team also create the AWS infrastructure and platform that the giffgaff stack will run on.

In terms of wider team strategy we are heavily involved in the migration of our tech stack from Rackspace to AWS.


About the Role


The role will be reporting to the Tooling tech lead and is accountable for delivering a stable environment for software engineers to deploy their microservices on to. The role helps to de-fine how software engineers deliver their micro-services onto the platform as well.

The role will also coach more junior engineers in the team as well.

The role exists as a backfill for someone who was moved into another role within giffgaff.


Key Responsibilities


  • Design, delivery, operation, maintenance and lifecycle management of code repositories, pipeline and continuous deployment release chains.
  • Setup AWS resources using Terraform.
  • Provide CI\CD and AWS support to product engineering teams.
  • Providing, and building a scalable production environment.
  • Writing configuration as code for our servers using Ansible.
  • Identify opportunities for performance improvements through automation.
  • Will be part of a 24/7 on-call rota.
  • Coach junior engineers in the team.


Key Skills/Experience


  • Solid understanding of code pipelines & release chains
  • Writing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Server and application configuration expe-rience using Ansible
  • Continuous hands-on AWS experience
  • Scripting and automation of systems for continuous integration.
  • Hands on Kubernetes experience in a production environment
  • At least one programming language
