About the Team:

The Mobile Insight, Strategy and Planning Team works across the Mobile Directorate and beyond. We’re made up of three distinct but co-dependent areas: Mobile Insight, Mobile Strategy and Mobile Operational Planning. We’re responsible for formulating the short, medium & long term strategies, grounded in customer insight, for the mobile division to propel growth today & tomorrow, and ensure direction permeates through delivery across the organisation, holding business units to account against plans.

 

About the Role:

The strategy & planning lead role is broad in scope. You will act as a bridge between customer insight, market trends & consumer behaviour and what different directorates of the business do in response. The main objective of the role is to support the delivery of a holistic VMO2 annual business strategy and plan, that ladders up to the 3-year plan by working with a cross functional working group that includes Central Strategy, Finance, Fixed/FMC strategy teams ably supported by the wider Insight, Strategy & Operational Planning teams. Whether it’s contributing to the strategic direction of the organisation or driving the definition of a key initiative, you’ll get the opportunity to apply your strategic and planning skills to a broad base of challenges

 
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams (including central strategy, insight & analytics, sales channels, finance, commercial, product and props, brand and marketing) to craft the 3years and annual plan strategic narrative & big bets to achieve the financial objectives. Drive alignment and bring everyone with you using your high emotional intelligence and humble nature
  • Work with other areas to synthesize customer insight, market trends & consumer behaviour and ensure this provides direction for the business plans
  • Understand commercial budgeting processes, ensuring there is a link between core strategic initiatives and financial and commercial targets
  • Bring ‘helicopter view’ thinking with a touch of magic and logic, substantiate with evidence, articulate with strategic frameworks
  • Optimise or revolutionise the strategy as needed: Don’t rest on your laurels but evolve the thinking as business objectives, human, market and cultural behaviours change faster than ever. Continuously evaluating what is and isn’t working
  • Drive execution of a relatively new customer value segmentation across operational plans & change initiatives

 

In order to be considered you must have the following experience:

  • Passion for customer and data led strategy
  • Understand commercial budgeting processes, ensuring there is a link between core strategic initiatives and financial and commercial targets
  • Able to write a consumer narrarive for the business that translates to commercial performance 
  • A sorcerer of strategic thinking and skills that have driven step change results in both commercial and marketing objectives
  • Ambidextrous ability to build a strategy and plan based on evidence and creative flair
  • Empathetic and conscientious management style, able to handle the personal & professional with confidence and focus
  • Stakeholder management/people skills (persuade and influence), comfortable presenting and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior ones
  • Oral and verbal storyteller with the ambition and drive to achieve big things
  • Proven strategic leadership skills on a complex, iconic brand with a track record of driving strategic plans
  • Analytical thinker, able to understand the big picture but also dive into the detail when required
