About the team

 

The role is part of the RAN Automation and OSS Assurance Team which resides within the Systems and Tools team. 

 

Systems and Tools are responsible for defining and delivering the operational support systems which play a vital part of operations. Within the RAN Automation and OSS Assurance Team, capabilities are introduced to automate aspects of the Radio Access Network and provide tools to provide Operational Assurance to stakeholders. 

 

About the role

 

Reporting to the Head of RAN Automation and OSS Assurance. This specific role provides operational support to key toolsets used within VMO2 for Reporting, Automation and Optimisation activities. The role will require experience and expertise to deploy new functionalities and develop our capability so VMO2 can get nearer to our “zero touch” RAN network ambition

Key responsibilities

 

  • Life cycle management of toolsets managed within the team.
  • Support of RAN Automation, Assurance and Optimisation tool projects requiring integration into the business.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to deliver capabilities and new platforms according to the current CCD project delivery process 
  • Understand stakeholder requirements and deliver toolset improvements to better user experience and efficiency. Influence user community to utilise current and planned toolset and seek to rationalise where possible.
  • Drive vendor and other teams to deliver functionality, capacity, automation and security improvements
  • Build a solid relationship between VMO2 and toolset vendor teams as well as partners and external stakeholders
  • Assist with validation of KPIs and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Capture/collate working group requirements and provide feedback into vendor’s product lines to influence design additions/changes which will improve our network operability and toolset function
  • Maximise effective use of our capabilities and present to stakeholders to aid smooth toolset adoption 
  • Work closely with stakeholders to refine Performance Management systems
  • Assist with relevant procurement activities for contract renewal, requirements capture and stakeholder approval
  • Be the team’s SME for Performance Management tools and RAN KPIs
  • Manage the data exchange integrity between VMO2 and our MVNO / MORAN partners.

 

Key skills

 

  • A detailed understanding of Radio Access Networks, the associated components, and the key functions they perform 
  • Detailed knowledge of Performance Management systems, KPIs and RAN systems
  • Knowledge of network KPIs, and how key performance reporting is used within the VMO2 business.
  • An in depth understanding of reporting data flows for Performance Reporting between internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to analyse and resolve complex technical problems 
  • A good understanding of project delivery processes 
  • A good understanding of incident and change processes
  • A reasonable understanding of procurement and purchasing processes
