About the Team

As part of the Online, Stores and Supply Chain team, reporting to the Head of Copy, the Copy team are accountable for creating and delivering clear and concise copy to underpin; Online commercial performance and KPIs, broad business strategy and plans, marketing campaigns, trading messages, new product and proposition launches, service experiences and digital POS that our customers have come to expect from O2 - across our online digital estate (desktop, mobile and tablet), our retail stores and our app ecosystem, for both consumers and business users. The role is also about managing external agencies and overseeing any externally built sites for governance and consistency to ensure tone of voice and brand style guidelines are executed across the O2 digital channels.

 

About the role

The role is primarily responsible for creating and delivering clear and concise copy to support the marketing campaigns, trading messages, new product and proposition launches, service experiences and digital POS that our customers have come to expect from O2.

 

As a copywriter, you’ll be expected to deliver both sales and service-based copy, that supports O2’s growing range of digital products, whilst bringing creative flair to the solutions you craft. You’ll carry this work through to completion and communicate your work to stakeholders and the wider business, whilst being the guardian of the O2 tone of voice.

 

Being a copywriter at O2 requires balancing the needs of several stakeholders. As well as being truthful and complying with relevant guidelines, our copy should also be reflective of O2’s tone of voice – all while hitting our sales targets and being SEO-friendly. In addition to writing and editing copy for the website, the Online Copywriter will also help with the launch of new products and services, optimising older content, merchandising and more, across both our consumer and business websites.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and review all copy across o2.co.uk, including promotional messaging, help and support content, new device launches and campaigns.
  • Intimately understand and anticipate consumer needs, digital trends and business objectives to ensure the experience meets customer and business needs.
  • Continually optimise and improve the digital experience by leveraging customer insight across all touch points, embedding a culture of testing, learning and improving.
  • Balance the commercial needs of O2 with producing copy that is exciting and inspiring, and hits agreed commercial targets.
  • Manage website governance process, including responsibility for tone of voice and legal compliance and adherence to web standards & accessibility
  • Solve interaction copy problems using analytics, usability testing and internal/external research.
  • Work with key stakeholders and editorial teams to interpret and help them realise their ambitions.

 

What We Need from You:

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience copywriting, preferably within online.
  • Excellent written English, with an eye for detail.
  • A strong communicator, passionate about writing and able to enthuse others.
  • Clear understanding of user behaviour online (desktop, mobile & tablet), and best practice and thinking in this area.
  • Understanding and experience of writing in a specific tone of voice and house style.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, manage workload and prioritise accordingly.
  • Broad understanding of technology, up and coming trends and their application to our business.
