About the Team:

The General Counsel’s Office is home to many of TUK’s professional advisors. We are here to provide TUK specialist services to identify and manage risk and to assist in the pursuit of commercial opportunities. We have in common a degree of independence, healthy scepticism and expert focus.

The Internal Control Analyst role sits within the Business Assurance function, working within a team of professional practitioners, providing assurance services to the Telefonica UK Business.

Through the use of digital technologies they have responsibility to provide professional Assurance monitoring services to the UK Business.

 

About the Role:

The role focuses on ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of Internal Control activities including but not limited to Continuous Monitoring activities (Intervention) through supervision of financial transactions, supporting the Company Policy Management process and support to the UK business and associated entities to enable them to meet the requirements of the Sarbanes Oxley Act 2002 (SOX),  The role will require you to operate on behalf of the UK Business and to directly engage with stakeholders throughout all areas of the Business,

At times you may be required to support other business driven activities that require Internal Control expertise to deliver business critical initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:

As the Internal Control Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of;

 

Company Policy Management

  • Ensuring adherence to the TUK Company Policy Management process, for TUK and its wholly owned subsidiaries, through day to day activities relating to;
    • Ongoing monitoring of Policy review dates to ensure Policy documents continue to be valid and appropriate
    • Review of New/amended Policy documents to confirm they conform to the format and content requirements including appropriate version and history control, do not contravene any other UK or Group Policy document and are a ‘Policy’ not a Work Instruction or Process.
    • The receipt, validation, communication and recording of compliance to the Telefonica Group Corporate Rules and local TUK policies

 

  • The provision of advice and guidance to the UK business on the suitability of Policy content and format.
  • Liaison with the CEO Office to ensure appropriate Governance and Policy approvals.
  • The maintenance of the information communicated via the TUK intranet page relating to Company Policies and/or the Corporate intranet page relating to local TUK Policies to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Facilitation of the communication of new/amended Corporate Rules to the UK subject matter expert(s).
  • Liaison with, and provision of information to, the Telefonica Corporate team in relation to any aspects relating to Company Policies, both Corporate and local

 

Intervention

  • Continuous analysis of financial transactions, especially cash-relevant transactions and their evaluation regarding risk as well as global and local compliance requirements.
  • Connect to operative workflows and processes and intervene in case of rules violation or inconsistency.
  • Follow up of the alerts raised by the different monitoring systems (Supervisa, Superportal, etc.).
  • Responsible for the escalation of issues or findings identified during their work.
  • Work closely with Corporate Intervention (Spain), Internal Audit, Risk Management and Compliance including the identification of trade-offs between global and local strategies and policies

 

Sarbanes Oxley

  • Proactive support and advice to control owners and managers across TUK specifically relating to the use of the Sox toolset.
  • Support the delivery of specific projects for control framework improvements as identified by the Business Assurance management team.
  • Proactive identification and resolution of any control, process, system or people changes that may impact the control framework and/or compliance.
  • The sharing of internal risk and control good practice across TUK, identifying opportunities to add value by identifying and advising on the resolution of weaknesses and inefficiencies in processes and controls, specific to Sarbanes Oxley compliance

 

Skills & Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working for an accounting firm, internal audit or finance
  • Very good understanding of the Oracle ERP system and financial processes, specifically the ‘Procure to Pay’ and ‘Treasury’ processes
  • Understanding of the practical requirements of Internal Control.
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills, to be able to inform and persuade colleagues at all grades both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent relationship building skills, building effective internal and external networks of contacts across all levels.
  • High degree of initiative and flexibility
