Responsibilities

 

  • Accounting responsibility for handset and other hardware revenues and costs of sale, logistics costs, stock and provisions.
  • Contributing the budgeting and forecasting process for stock and cost accounting areas
  • Collaborating with the Commercial Finance team, Commercial P&L owners, Data and Insight, Operations and Devices teams, as well as warehouse and logistics partners, the role holder will ensure that all revenues, costs and related stock and cash flows are recorded and reported accurately.
  • The role holder is accountable for shaping appropriate accounting policies and ensuring they are maintained, holding the team to account to comply with relevant accounting standards in a way that stands-up to scrutiny by auditors and shareholders
  • The role holder will seek to optimise process efficiency whilst upholding the highest levels of reporting integrity, championing automation, outsourcing and/or process re-design
  • This role will be a contact for the statutory auditors and will facilitate the planning and execution of audit activity across the hardware related activities of TM
  • Stock governance and optimisation will require engagement across Commercial, Vendor Management, Operational and Finance stakeholders.  The role holder will support and enable lean stock management.

 

Key Skills (Essential)

 

  • Qualified Financial Accountant with experience in accounting and planning focused roles
  • Self-motivated with a growth mindset, curiosity and a desire to make continuous improvements
  • A proactive interest in understanding systems, processes and judgements that drive the numbers
  • Strong stakeholder management skill and experience
  • Finance ERP skills: Ideally Oracle Financials
  • Strong awareness of relevant accounting standards and their practical application
  • Previous experience of stock accounting including forward and reverse logistics within a retail/FMCG or telecoms environment
  • Excellent communication skills, able to swiftly and succinctly pinpoint what is important from a dynamic, broad and deep pool of continuously evolving data 
  • Excellent analytical skill – converting data into clear and engaging messages
  • Comfortable analysing large volumes of data and exploring exceptions, inconsistencies, mismatches and a keen eye for detail with the ability to spot trends, drivers, levers and use these to optimise performance

 

Key Skills (Desired)

 

  • A solid understanding of the mobile telecommunications industry, including stock process, cost accounting and products and risks
  • Experience of implementing process improvements/automation
  • Experience of maintaining internal controls and process documentation
  • Data analysis skills – including basic SQL queries and/or VBA macros

 

Location

 

  • The role is based in the Slough Head Office though currently subject to Covid-19 restrictions the ability to work from home is important.
  • You’ll be expected to travel to Telefonica / Tesco / supplier sites within the UK too
