About the Team:

The Brand and Comms Centre of Excellence (COE) at Tesco Mobile, has a clear purpose of protecting, enhancing and growing the Tesco Mobile brand in market.


We're a passionate, dedicated team committed to driving brand differentiation to help unlock the next cycle of business growth.


The Centre of Excellence is comprised of 3 squads, all united with the same common purpose. Not only do we work on our own initiatives and projects, we also support and provide expertise and guidance to the entire business, so no two days are ever the same.


About the Role:

We are looking for a brilliant External Comms Expert (Manager) to play an instrumental role in pushing our comms function for the business forward.


This is a fast-paced, high profile and dynamic role supporting reputation management, consumer PR and influencer activity as well as working with our shareholders to help realise our ambition of being the first choice for Tesco shoppers. The role sits within a team of 4 so you'll be afforded plenty of opportunity to shape and influence how we work moving forward.


You'll be working with some world-class agencies, brilliant colleagues - both within our shareholders and within Tesco Mobile itself - and be instrumental in driving a real step-change for the brand, as we continue with our Agile transformation.


You'll be in good company too, within the wider CoE your comms squad will be working closely with the Brand Squad, driving the strategy and translating insight into action, as well as our Campaigns Squad, who are accountable for developing high impact brand activations, driving consideration in the market.

Key Responsibilities:

Some of the areas you will be involved in:

  • Support the Comms Lead to deliver against targets
  • Help build and deliver PR and influencer campaigns
  • Reputation management and crisis comms management
  • Write and edit press materials when necessary – press releases, FAQs, briefing docs, etc
  • Pitch stories, securing PR coverage across target media titles
  • Work alongside comms lead on issues and crisis management
  • Pull together monthly reports to deliver to senior stakeholders
  • Continue to build and strengthen relationships with key journalists and influencers
  • Work collaboratively with relevant teams across Tesco Mobile and our shareholders
  • Help manage agency support
  • Help manage the budget and raise POs


What We Need from You:

  • Strong project management with experience in planning, delivering and evaluating campaigns
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that influence and engage
  • Confident in handling issues
  • Experience of PR management tools
  • Experience of social platforms and working with influencers
  • Ability to influence Senior stakeholders
  • Budget and agency management experience
  • Adaptable, inquisitive and comfortable with ambiguity - we're on a journey to becoming an Agile business, and in many ways we're learning as we go
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at any given time
  • Experience of working in telco / subscription based/ tech brand desirable
