Role purpose:

To provide expert and quality financial business partnering to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Digital Officer, and their leadership teams. Provide end-to-end financial leadership on performance and strategy to deliver optimum outcomes and profitability for the Company; particularly in the context of the newly created Joint Venture between O2 and Virgin Media.

To provide insight and guidance to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Digital Officer acting as the financial conscience advising on performance, setting budgets and forecasts to drive continuous improvement and make a tangible difference to the financial performance of the Company. 

To continue the transformation of Finance into a value creation function.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for business partnering the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Digital Officer, and their leadership teams, advise on P&L performance, set budgets and forecasts, targets and KPIs to influence and drive profitability. This role supports the quarterly delivery of targets as well as helping to identify, understand and realise additional value through strong thought leadership on the basis of automated processes
  • Manage and lead all financial and commercial activities for the COO & CDO P&L’s, balance sheet and cash flow, to deliver optimum outcomes for the company.
  • Develop and execute the strategic and business plans for the consumer converged and digital divisions, assessing financial impact of any changes to plans. Influence and challenge leadership team to make optimal investment and trade-off decisions by providing insightful analysis and recommendations.
  • Define and lead all planning and reporting processes from weekly R&O's to budget and long-range plan. Provide robust and detailed interpretation of financial analysis to enable the business to take timely action/decisions and achieve targets. Identify actions to drive opportunities and mitigate risks. Prepare ad hoc analysis as required by the Executive Committee.
  • Accountable for functional capex planning and allocation processes. Review business cases where required. Challenge assumptions using analytical review and available insight. Work closely with the Strategy team to validate and shape inputs where required.
  • Lead the preparation of all month end, budget and reforecast analysis and reporting for the Executive Committee and Finance Leadership teams, ensuring clear and concise articulation of performance across all aspects of the business. Maintains appropriate governance and controls of budgets.
  • Act as a transversal lead on key areas of investment, both capital expenditure and headcount, ensuring there is one aligned approach and view across the business and that teams are challenged on return on investment.
  • Lead revenue assurance and credit and collections teams and responsible for bad debt reviews, credit and collections across consumer converged and digital customers.
  • Provide financial support to consumer converged and digital divisions, with a mind-set of continuous development to develop efficient processes and structures, advancing current financial models and provide high grade financial analysis.
  • Continuously assess and modify processes to drive efficiency and quality improvements. Ensure consistency across the Finance team through clear articulation of processes and outputs required.
  • Build strong working relationships with all internal stakeholders and coordinate across the Finance function.
  • Support the development of a best-in-class function, working collaboratively to demonstrate ‘one team’ behaviours and foster a positive working environment.


Key experience/skills (essential)

  • Qualified accountant – CIMA, ACA or ACCA (FCMA or FCCA preferable)
  • Experience of senior finance leadership team experience within an environment of scale and complexity
  • Strong commercial acumen with ability to influence senior stakeholders 
  • Demonstrable experience managing a P&L from an operational perspective
  • Strong commercial and pricing experience including working with complex contracts and bids.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit; ability to understand and identify business opportunities, challenging the business and the status quo
  • Ability to help improve operational procedures, teams and used technology alongside
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills 



  • Strong experience in customer facing service-based organisations
  • Experience and knowledge of UK telco market
