About the team:

The Business and Wholesale Finance team is a key part of Finance and Strategy in Virgin Media O2 and is instrumental in shaping and supporting the direction of the Business division. The team provides commercial leadership, decision support and financial control to the Business division, who are responsible for >£1bn revenue and >£0.5bn OIBDA (? O2/ show VMO2). This role provides the chance to be part of the team supporting the fastest growth, highest investment segment of VMO2.

This role is responsible for all financial aspects of the ICT categories covering communication services and products sold direct to customers, and supporting the Head of Finance: Business Products and Wholesale. About the role:

Reporting into the Head of Finance: Business Products and Wholesale, this role is a key member of the Business and Wholesale Finance team. The role is responsible for the ICT portfolio which comprises 5 categories of related products and solutions, which are a mix of key growth and more mature areas, covering >£400m of revenue/year. The role is responsible for the 5 categories covering: collaboration solutions; voice solutions; and digital workplace solutions including productivity, security and management; connectivity solutions; and mobile solutions.

The role business partners Director -1 and their teams, supporting them on financial management, enabling good decision making and driving business success through commercial support and financial analysis of performance, and helping identify opportunities to drive improvements and execute plans that add value to their areas.

The individual will be involved in detailed commercial work supporting the existing products and solutions within the categories, and also new products and solutions where required.

This is a high-profile role and the right person will be able to work with, influence and challenge senior stakeholders across the business.

The individual should be a strong communicator, who is comfortable being a soundboard to business partners and challenging the business areas they support.

To succeed you will need to build strong relationships with the wider teams the role interacts with covering Product, Operations, Trading, and Finance Planning teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support Head of Finance: Business Products and Wholesale to deliver the overall Business Products and Wholesale strategy through best in class financial analysis and support
  • Business partnering -1 Director level for ICT, working closely together to drive the agenda of the area
  • Financial ownership of performance, analysis for all ICT products and solutions, and support validation of business cases for investments for existing and new products and solutions
  • Provide monthly review of actuals and reporting to product director/ heads as well as internally in finance where required, and managing opportunities and risks
  • Active role in managing the planning cycles, Outlook, Budget, 3YP
  • Evaluation of growth strategies, supporting investments plans and resource allocation
  • Take an influencing and leadership role within finance and be able to align performance to company strategy and objectives
  • Any other ad hoc responsibilities

 

Skills/Experience:

  • Qualified accountant with a good mix of experience
  • High level of confidence and able to build relationships and engage effectively with a variety of different stakeholders
  • Able to provide a balance of support and challenge and the influencing the decision-making process
  • Ability to understand a broad range of products and services, review complex information and pull out the key facts and trends
  • Balanced financial, commercial and strategic skills displaying an ability to balance technical detail with the big picture understanding and provide high level summaries to senior management
  • Success in effectively managing multiple stakeholders with different priorities
  • Ability to prioritise and deal with multiple demands and manage expectations
  • Self-motivated with experience of setting own priorities and confidence in making decisions
  • Strong team player and strong people management and leadership skill
