In Medium Business sales, we focus on UK businesses between 10-250 employees to deliver ICT and digital solutions that support our customers on their transformation journey, helping them be more efficient and reducing their costs thus underpinning their future success.

The Demand Generation Team manager plays a pivotal role in the practice model, they are responsible for managing the internal demand generation channels which uncover sales opportunities for Medium Business customers. In addition, the team manager will also manage the processes and performance for our external demand generation team and report on demand, pipeline forecast and sales conversions to the wider management team.


About the Role:

The purpose of this role is to be a key member of the Medium Business Acquisition team within the private sector. You will be expected to manage the day to day activities of the teams in regards to performance and processes. You will continuously adapt contact strategies based on vertical market behaviours that enable the team to successfully seek out new logos to O2 with a mobile-first strategy, capitalizing on our rich heritage and using this to open the doors to other digital services. You will responsible for reporting on all channels of demand for medium business acquisition and have an open dialogue with marketing to discuss ways in which to increase demand and work towards increased conversions.

The role is desk-based, but the ability and option to travel to client meetings around the UK may also be required from time to time.


Key responsibilities:

  • Delivery of all team KPI’s and targets specifically focused on opportunities, cleansing and activity.
  • Meeting the ‘sales excellence standards’ Medium Business Acquisition.
  • Reporting performance and completing an in-depth analysis of Salesforce data.
  • Having a full understanding of Telefonica O2 O2’s products and services across both mobile and ICT Digital services, creating tailored value conversations with your prospects.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the business and exhibiting Telefonica O2’s core values (Bold, Open, Clear).
  • Stakeholder & relationship management - engaging across all levels within the wider business and our outsourced partners.
  • Delivery of projects through project management and continuous process improvement.
  • Opportunities will be achieved through ‘needs based’ CCV sales techniques so a full understanding of BANT qualification and compliance is important.
  • Utilising a suite of customer systems including DISE, and Salesforce adhering to all sales and system processes outlined by the business area.
  • Day-to-day achievement of all department performance targets (quantitative and qualitative) which are assessed and observed on a regular basis.
  • Ensure the teams own the customer opportunity delivering the highest standards of service until the account has been successfully handed over to the relevant sales team.
  • Strong team player and an ability to pro-actively and effectively work across departments and workstreams ensuring the right outcome are achieved.
  • Take personal ownership for your development, market knowledge, network and delivery.
  • Proactively manage your Academy coaching plan through Campus to move towards role footprint.


Essential skills:

  • Understanding of Salesforce dashboards and reporting through Excel.
  • Proven experience as a leader with a background in managing a team/department.

  • Proven experience of meeting targets and delivering against business-critical KPIs


Desirable skills:

  • An understanding of VMO2’s business products, policy and procedure around tariffs, propositions and value add.
  • Track record of sales success in a telco environment preferred.
  • Sales experience (selling in a B2B environment is preferred).
  • A good understanding of sales methodologies such as BANT.
  • Understanding of the communications and I.T. Industry.
