SCOPE

As part of the International Services and Customer Engineering department, the unit is responsible for the data center and cloud business in Telefonica Global Solutions.

 

Globally, the data center and cloud market is expected to keep growing at double digit in the next few years, so we are looking for a Cloud Solution Architect that can help us capture that growth driving the data center and cloud business development in Telefonica Global Solutions.

 

As a Cloud Solution Architect, the candidate will be involved in complex cloud and data center deals that will require previous direct hands-on experience on areas like design, service delivery and operations. The position will challenge the candidate in designing and help deploying cloud and data center architectures which include, but are not limited to, technologies like colocation, server virtualization, cloud computing, legacy environments, disaster recovery and business continuity, storage and backup, among others.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • Translate customer requirements to specific solutions using Telefonica’s portfolio and global capabilities, and integrating providers when needed
  • Design and document data center and cloud solutions for Customers.
  • Work on responses to RFIs and RFPs.
  • Responsible of the business case (profit, loss) for new projects, including its construction, analysis, defense, getting internal approvals, among others
  • Provide critical input in drafting the business terms and conditions, and contract
  • For new projects that have been approved by Customers, document and do a formal handover to the Project Management Office (PMO), who is responsible for the provision
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of current products and services as well as planned enhancements through formal and informal training.
  • Propose up-selling and cross-selling to existing Customers
  • Do presentations to Customers positioning Telefonica’s value proposition and its cloud and data center services portfolio
  • Identify new business opportunities that will result in revenue generation.
  • Co-responsible for the company’s data center and cloud services revenues
  • Do technical analysis and comparisons between different technologies based on Customers’ needs
  • Keep track and control of the data center and cloud business financials, including revenues, costs, margins

 

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • The KPIs for this position will be assessed in terms of the sales, revenues, profits, deliverables quality and response time

 

JOB QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelors / Masters degree in Computer Science / Telecommunications or equivalent
  • Industry and Technology Certifications (Microsoft, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, VMware, among others)
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing, managing and/or implementing complex data center and cloud projects and services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and lead a technical initiative.
  • Native/bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish

 

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • In-depth knowledge of the cloud and data center business market in the USA, LatAm and Europe.
  • Market knowledge including solutions, technologies and product offerings
  • Quick-study for new technologies/products.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in data center and cloud services, architectures and engineering skills
  • In-depth knowledge and strong experience and exposure to some of the following areas of specialization: storage (arrays, SAN), servers (Windows, Unix, Linux), virtualization (VMware, HyperV), hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), disaster recovery and business continuity, colocation, among others
