Wayra Builder - UX Strategist

Area description: 

Wayra Builder is a lean multidisciplinary team part of the Open Innovation unit.  Wayra Builder´s mission is to identify and validate business models to drive new revenue streams for Telefonica Group with the agility of an startup and the power of a corporation. We work using rapid prototyping process and the cycle "identify problem-> design solution-> test-> learn" is our mantra. Following this way of working, we deliver initiaves to:

• If the inititive has the potential to become a startup, we will build it and help it grow. We stick to the "open" nature of the name of our unit here, we never play alone: business opportunities identification and validation, talent acquisition process to identify the right founders and the investment for the succesful initiatives to become  start ups are delivered together with partners and the founders themselves. Ideas may come from either inside Telefónica (with the aim to do spin-outs) or outside Telefónica (academian, other corporates, other venture builders, founders that submit their ideas through our website,...).

• Support  Wayra Builder startups to grow and accelerate their product market fit and evolution with the 360 expertise of the team (product, research, UX/UI, engineering, business development).

Mission:

The candidate will join the Wayra Builder unit as UX Strategist with the mission of looking after growing our startup portfolio with high impact initiatives, providing the UX perspective to our multidisciplinary team.

Main duties & responsibilities: 

We are looking for a UX Strategist that has a 360 vision, with the ability to observe the company, the market and the users/customers. This will allow us to identify new business opportunities. In addition, we are looking for someone capable of seeking possible solutions for problems that may arise, building a link between the needs of users and the problems. Hence the main duties and responsibilities of a UX Strategist are:

• Identify business problems

• Look for new opportunities

• Generate solutions

• Propose new strategies to achieve all objectives

Specific the main duties and responsibilities that this UX Strategist will carry out as part of Wayra Builder team:

• Navigating uncertainty and turning customer and business needs into innovative solutions.

• Product design, applied to prototype creation in particular.

• Generate and share knowledge and inspire the team through design tools and methodologies.

• Define the lines to be developed, ideas, concepts and reports.

• Execute assigned projects, according to the requirements and deadlines established.

• Implementation of initiatives and challenges for innovative solutions.

• Dialog and relationship with clients and internal and external partners involved in the projects.

• Facilitation and mentoring sessions for startups immersed in acceleration and open innovation processes.

Education required:

Bachelor/ Master/ PhD degree with complementary education in UX/Design.
 

Specífic skills:

• You have autonomy in project management and development.

• You work with empathy to understand the client's needs and circumstances.

• You can communicate abstract and complex concepts in a simple and consumable way.

• You have a creative can-be-done mindset and keep focus on execution and delivering results

• You have excellent problem solving abilities in the face of ambiguity.

• You are confortable with uncertainty and complex and changing environments. You have been there before and survived.

• As a strong team player, you have a proven ability to communicate and work cooperatively with various cross functional teams. 

• You have excellent skills in interpersonal relationships.

• Proficient working with Agile methods (in particular with Lean Startup and Design Thinking is a plus).

Technical knowledge:

• Knowledge of design methodologies (service design, system thinking, design futures...) and experience working with them.

• Knowledge and/or training in Open Innovation and innovation methodologies, such as Design Thinking and Lean Startup, as well as in quality management in projects.

• Figma

• Airtable is a plus

Professional experience:

• Experience in product design (digital product design is a plus).

• Experience working with design methodologies (service design, system thinking, design futures...).

• Experience in managing complex projects coordinating the work of other specialists.

• Start up building process, from ideation to market launch.

• Early stage start up needs and challenges.

• Value proposition and Business model definition for digital services.

• Experience in web design and user research is a plus. 

Languages:

Proficiency in Spanish and English required.
German/ Portuguese a plus.
