Join the Open Gateway team in group CTIO as a network service team leader. The role based in Madrid (Spain) will be focused on leading a team in charge of, developing and testing the network capabilities and services to be exposed to our customers.

 

The CTIO area leads network and IT technology within the Telefonica group. The position requires a tight collaboration with the global product area and the different operators of the group in order to deliver the network capabilities required to fulfill product and commercial roadmap.

 

As part of your role, you will be leading a team of 5 people in charge of defining the technology roadmap and solutions to expose network enablers as APIfied services that abstract telecom network complexity to non-telco developers and application providers, in accordance with the objectives of the Open Gateway Program in Telefonica.

 

The role will involve being accountable for network delivery and  gaining a deep understanding of key network platforms prone to exposure e.g. PCF, NEF, NWDAF, IMS ... and the platforms used to materialize such exposure through microservices, with objectives including design, technology selection, solution adaptation and test execution. Additionally, you will be collaborating to the relevant open-source communities  and standard bodies in line with Telefonica roadmap and strategy.

 

The role involves communication and coordination with Telefonica Operating Businesses (Brazil, Spain, UK and Germany) for the execution of the corporate strategy. 

 

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION

 

The objectives of the position offered are:

  • Lead platform technology team in charge of Open Gateway
  • Lead network architecture and roadmap for Open Gateway
  • Lead suppliers selections and roadmap.
  • Identify and prioritize network capabilities that can be exposed
  • Define and exposure logic of each of the Network APIs and the middleware architecture component that is required.
  • Lead design architecture solutions to expose each one of the network capabilities through APIs, including integration mechanisms across the different layers of the architecture from Developer Marketplaces across Open Gateway layers to the lower Network layers.
  • Market evaluation and testing for products and vendors applicable to API design and exposure.
  • Create new service level APIs and provide contributions to industrial fora or standardization bodies in charge of Network APIs.
  • Analyze new APIs from the industrial fora to map to existing network capabilities.
  • Elaborate test plans and execute them to test end-to-end the Network APIs in laboratories and production environments.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • MsC in Computer Science, Telecommunication, Networking or any related fields.

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

  • Project management and team leadership
  • Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment
  • Team working and customer focus.
  • Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills
  • Capability to understand business requirements and convert into technological architectures
  • Capability to interact with providers and integrators to run evaluation processes
  • Capability to communicate at different levels (directors, engineers, …) to disseminate architecture propositions
  • Project management capabilities to keep track of transformation programs in Operations
  • Dynamic attitude, self-learner and proactive.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge in the area of core network and platforms, especially 4G and 5G mobile core network for data and communications.
  • Strong knowledge in the area of APIs: REST, SOAP, YAML, SWAGGER,
  • Knowledge of microservices containerized applications: K8s Dockers,
  • Knowledge of microservice integration architectures: service mesh, Istio, Kafka, API GWs,
  • Knowledge of public cloud services and cloud architecture
  • Capability to understand network architectures and protocols
  • Capability to define ATPs/test plans and experience in testing in lab environment.
  • Knowledge of basic network testing tools: iPerf, Nperf, etc.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years + experience in service development
  • Experience on following activities:
    • Telco networks:  core network architecture, enablers protocols in 4G and 5G.
    • Containers based technology (Kubernetes) and microservices integration.
    • Development of application based on http-based APIs.

 

LANGUAGES:

  • English and Spanish languages are mandatory
  • Portuguese and German will be considered
