Your mission 🎯

At GCTIO, we lead network technology across the Telefónica group. Our mission is to ensure that the right technologies are identified, selected, and deployed in the most efficient and effective way to support Telefónica’s strategic vision and business objectives. This include the security of our networks and Systems defining the right architecture and technologies to assure having a secure infrastructure.

In this role based in Madrid (Spain), you will lead the network security across the Telefónica Group within the GCTIO organization. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the security requirements and architecture in close coordination with Telefónica’s operating businesses and key stakeholders. It will also include the participation in security standardization fora.

The role requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and deep technical expertise to steer the security solutions in our networks.

You will play a key role in shaping the future network security and ensuring a consistent security strategy across the Group, fostering innovation and operational efficiency.

  How will you contribute to this role? 💼

• Analyse fixed and mobile network architectures and develop proposals for their end-to-end security.  
• Identify and assess vulnerabilities, exposure surfaces and potential attack vectors, considering both external and internal threats.
• Define and evolve security architectures for new technologies, services and network environments, including Gi/SGi, DNS, IPX and GRX.
• Conduct threat and risk assessments to improve the resilience, segmentation and protection of telecommunications infrastructure.
• Assess vendors’ technology roadmaps and develop proposals to strengthen security across fixed and mobile network technologies.
• Define technical and security requirements for solutions, platforms and technology providers.
• Prepare technical specifications and selection processes for the delivery of global security projects.
• Lead and manage global projects, coordinating technical teams, business units, operations, suppliers and vendors.
• Monitor the implementation of security measures and validate their alignment with architectures, corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement in network security, anticipating emerging threats and supporting the technological evolution of infrastructure.
• Participate in standardization fora like GSMA security groups (FASG)

What skills and key capabilities we are looking for? 🔎

• 3 years + of experience in a similar role
• Strong experience and knowledge in network security including  technology and architecture
• Leadership capabilities to drive projects and teams towards objectives
• Team work in multi cultural environment
• Experience in AI and Agentic AI
• Experience in participating and contributing in the  telco standards and industry ecosystem
• Knowledge and experience in cloud native infrastructures
• Fluent in Spanish and English
