Digital Innovation Manager

We are seeking a Digital Innovation Manager with expertise in leading and managing digital innovation projects, particularly focused on the connectivity ecosystem. This role will be instrumental in driving the company’s innovation strategy, overseeing  also innovation funded projects, and managing cross-functional technological initiatives in connectivity.

AREA DESCRIPTION

The Discovery Unit Organization finds an opportunity to become sustainable through the definition of the so called Innovation Enablers. These provide fundamental cross-cutting capabilities for the innovation process, but also, in their definition, allow to capture efficiencies and business  opportunities.

The Discovery unit’s vision is to explore what is still unknown and increase the value of what is  already known to us. This vision is based in three missions: to make innovation a transversal area in the company by connecting the dots between the different units, to assume risk as an enabler of progress; and to be able to assume this progress from a sustainable perspective through accountability.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

• Lead the connectivity innovation strategy, ensuring its development and deployment across various markets and devices.
• Coordinate with global and local teams to define the connectivity roadmap, covering distribution channels, use cases, technology impacts, supplier relationships, and device integration.
• Manage European-funded innovation projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, deadlines, and strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with R&D, technology, and business teams to drive new capabilities and services in devices, including RCS, 5G, IoT, AI, security, and advanced connectivity.
• Act as the main contact point with key stakeholders such as mobile operators, technological partners and regulatory bodies, fostering adoption of emerging technologies.
• Drive sustainability and eco-design initiatives in devices, ensuring alignment with regulations and environmental objectives.
• Manage relationships with internal and external innovation teams (startups, innovation hubs, research centers).
• Represent the company in international forums on digital technologies, connectivity standards, and the evolution of the mobile ecosystem.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in digital innovation management with a strong background in communication and eSIM technology.
• Deep understanding of the mobile device ecosystem, connectivity, IoT, and XR.
• Experience managing R&D projects, ensuring compliance and execution.
• Strong leadership in cross-functional environments, collaborating with multiple international teams.
• Expertise in handling relationships with suppliers, operators, and tech partners.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies: 5G, RCS, AI, Open Gateway, security in devices.
• Experience in budget management and strategic innovation planning.
• Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in technology roadmaps and defining functional requirements for mobile platforms.
• Background in advanced mobile services.
• Strong technical acumen with the ability to engage with technology partners, manufacturers and application providers.
• Experience in working with Telefonica OBs, TTech, Corporate…
• Ability to bridge business needs with technical solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
