General Description

  • The open position is within the ESG Customer and Business Development team which is one of the 4 areas reporting into Telefonica’s Chief Sustainability Officer. The goals of this ESG area are the following: Promote the development of more sustainable and accessible products and services, to support Telefonica commercial promoting our sustainability value proposition, tracking the voice of customers, measuring the socio-economic impact, and fostering sustainable innovation.
  • To do so, we must have a transversal vision and knowledge on ESG, especially on environmental topics and skills to communicate and translate ESG technical information into business words.
  •  The expert will play a key role in this mission by driving internal projects that will focus on seeking Telefónica's differentiation by promoting sustainability projects for our B2B and B2C customers.

 

Main functions

The ESG Commercial Support & Sustainable innovation position will manage a variety of projects in relation to the impulse of sustainable initiatives with our B2B, B2C customers; some of them are:

 

  • Evaluation of Product & Service carbon footprint
    • To calculate Product & Services carbon footprint
    • To monitor sectoral initiatives and regulations on environmental impact and Life Circle Assessment of ICT products (European Commission, GSMA, ITU, etc.)

 

  • Development and commercial support of sustainability projects for B2B customers:
      • ESG commercial support in tenders, ESG customers homologation, CDP Supply Chain, etc.
      • Provide commercial support in customer meetings about the ESG strategy.
      • Identify new business opportunities through green and sustainable digital solutions in the different sectors of our B2B customer portfolio.
      • Development and communication of green digitization case studies with B2B customers.

 

  • Definition and track of a framework for sustainable products and services (P&S):
      • Identification of applicable regulations (green claim, eco-design, taxonomy, etc.)
      • Benchmarking of market, analysts, and investors.
      • Definition of Telefónica sustainable P&S criteria and framework.
      • Building a portfolio of sustainable products and services, including financial indicators.
      • Support in the verification process of ESG offer and innovation KPIs to comply with CSRD requirements.

 

  • Development and implementation of sustainability innovation projects
  • Development of ESG innovation and pilot projects for B2C and B2C customers (i.e.: carbon footprint offset products, circular economy pilots, start-up´s solutions etc.)
  • Support and collaboration with Open Innovation to promote impactful start-ups.

 

  • Internal liaising with other operation areas and sustainability local units from different countries

 

Qualifications

  • Required: bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or related, also considered Business/Legal/Science/Engineering with a postgraduate in environment.
  • MBA or Master in Sustainability would be highly valued.

 

Languages

  • Spanish.
  • Fluency in English is required (C1). 
  • Desirable: Portuguese and/or German

 

Experience

  • 2 years of work experience in sustainability, either in a company or consulting organization.
  • Required previous experience in environment/climate change, in particular with carbon footprint evaluation models.
  • Previous experience in marketing or commercial would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of regulatory environment (EU-level initiatives on sustainability matters; reporting obligations etc.) would be recognized.

  • Passion on ESG issues and challenges to work on making a positive contribution to society and the environment.
  • Excellent project management skills with attention to detail and comfort dealing with ambiguity and working with people from other regions and culture.
  • Analytical skills including ability to identify gaps and opportunities for new projects and programs.
  • Ability to executing projects in a complex organizational environment, and to energizing others and build working relationships to get things done.
  • Great communication and writing skills - ability to translate ideas into clear, high impact messages and capacity to field difficult questions.
