General Description
The open position is within the ESG Customer and Business Development team, which is one of the 4 areas reporting into Telefonica’s Chief Sustainability Officer. This team focuses on promoting the development of even more sustainable/inclusive products and services to support Telefonica´s sustainability value proposition.
Main functions
The ESG – Social Inclusion position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that promote social inclusion within our company and across our global operations. This role will involve collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that our products and services reflect our commitment to sustainability in general and social inclusion in particular:
- Strategy Development and Implementation: Contribute to the company’s social inclusion strategy in alignment with its overall ESG framework. Identify and prioritize key social issues and opportunities for the company to address.
- Program Management: Lead the design and execution of projects aimed at promoting social inclusion within the company. Contribute to social pillar of the company´s due diligence process.
- Internal Coordination: Work closely with corporate functions as well as country operations to align strategy and initiatives in view of new regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations.
- Reporting and Data Collection: Collect data within the company to report relevant KPIs. Write and conceptualize sections of Telefónica’s Integrated Report, ensuring compliance with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and relevant ESRS requirements.
- ESG Ratings and Rankings: Provide feedback on sustainability topics to relevant ESG ratings and rankings (e.g., DJSI, Sustainalytics etc.).
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Business, Legal, Engineering, or related fields.
- MBA or Master in Sustainability would be highly valued.
Languages
- Native-level fluency in Spanish and English.
- Desirable: German and/or Portuguese.
Experience
- 2 years of work experience in sustainability, either in a company or consulting organization.
- Understanding of:
- social sustainability topics in general and human rights/social inclusion in particular,
- complex nature of a multinational company’s value chain, especially but not limited to its supply chain, and its potential impacts, risk and opportunities on sustainability matters &
- regulatory environment (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, ESRS standards, Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive etc.) and standards (UN Guiding Principles, OECD Guidelines etc.).
Skills
- Passion on ESG issues and challenges to work on making a positive contribution to society and the environment.
- Excellent project management skills with attention to detail and comfort dealing with ambiguity and working with people from other regions and culture.
- Analytical skills including ability to identify gaps and opportunities for new projects and programs.
- Ability to executing projects in a complex organizational environment, and to energizing others and build working relationships to get things done.
- Great communication and writing skills - ability to translate ideas into clear, high impact messages and capacity to field difficult questions.
