Beca Talentum - XR Experience Centre (XREC) Operations

Functional Area / Reporting line:

The role sits in the Hardware, Innovation and Ecosystems team with the Global Devices Unit (GDU).

MISSION

Telefonica has identified XR as one of the key areas of innovation in the coming years, with virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR) and augmented reality (AR) hardware expected to be the next major computing platform.  Within the Hardware, Innovation and Ecosystems team, we work with hardware OEMs, ecosystem partners, chipsets vendors and other technology providers to bring the best possible devices and experiences to our customers. Given the importance of XR, we have taken a lead to ensure that we get ahead of the curve and position Telefonica at the forefront of this next evolution. To achieve this, it is critical that we become experts in the hardware, ecosystem and technologies that will power the future, and this is why we have set up the XR Experience Centre (XREC) in GDU. This role will be the day-to-day operational lead for XREC, becoming the true expert on everything XR and ensuring everything run smoothly. It is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in and learn about one of the most exciting areas of forward innovation which will transform the way we experience the digital world in the future.

What is XREC?

XREC is a dedicated space open to all Telefonica areas to experience and explore XR. It is designed in a way to facilitate learning, development and testing / demonstration of XR devices, software and services, with the objective of:

·       Upskilling internal teams become ”thought leaders” in the area of XR.

·       Evaluating XR devices and providing support to OBs in device selection & ranging.

·       Providing insights & feedback to technology partners.

·       Drive XR development - open to internal developers + open innovation programs to enable testing and development of XR services & applications.

·       Provide internal demonstrations of the latest XR hardware, services and applications.

·       Raise the visibility, experience level and excitement around this future computing platform within Telefonica.

FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

·       Day to day management of the XREC

o   Managing the booking schedule

o   Managing access to XREC

o   Managing the stock of devices (storage, charging, tracking, security etc.)

o   Manage further development of XREC.

o   Onboard and “learn” new devices coming into XREC.

·       Lead XREC demonstration sessions

o   Ensuring everything is prepared ahead of XREC sessions, working with the team to arrange necessary support.

o   Deliver the presentation introducing attendees to XREC explaining XR.

o   Confidently run/execute demonstrations of the different devices and services.

·       Input into evaluations of XR hardware as requirement by the Portfolio team.

·       Develop a good understanding of the XR ecosystems and identify strong XR applications which could be candidates to take to market in our countries.

·       Develop expertise on the different building blocks of XR implementation and on the different APIs/platform implementations (potentially be able to develop basic demo/testing use cases).

·       Create strong links with other XR experience centres in the group with the objective of building a network to share best practice, experience and learning.

·       Create and develop links across TEF group eg. Metaverse team, GCTIO, B2B, Open Innovation teams with the objective of:

o   Promoting XR, XREC

o   Understanding their requirements (apps / use cases, technical, hardware etc.)

o   Identifying opportunities to work together on beneficial and relevant projects.

·       Increase the visibility of XREC and XR by developing an internal and external communication plan (in collaboration with the comms team).

o   Ideate, develop, coordinate and own a content plan.

o   Record and edit videos suitable for internal and external social media (workplace, LinkedIn + others)

¿Qué buscamos en las personas del equipo? 

·       Strong academic record, educated to university degree level.

·       Technical background preferred, experience of XR development and tools would be a plus.

·       Proficient with MS Office and other standard IT tools.

·       Fluent Spanish / English – must be able to confidently present in both languages.

• 1-2 years+ working experience post University.
• Passionate about the possibilities of innovation, technology, and the future of XR.
• Knowledgeable about the XR space.
• Experience of using and potentially developing for XR devices.
• Confident with strong presentation skills, comfortable presenting to groups and different levels of management.
• Proactive contributor to the development & direction of XREC.
• Team player with collaborative mindset
• Able to take the lead – reliable, responsible, accountable.
• Able to build & maintain a strong and relevant network across TEF.
• Good knowledge of social media, video making and editing.
