Role purpose:


Market Development sits within Virgin Media O2 Business and is the team responsible for driving growth to the organisation by establishing new and digital-first revenue streams from high-growth markets like 5G, IoT, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence.

Reporting into Head of Strategy, Innovation 5G & IoT, this is an important role within Market Development leading the development of its strategy. You will keep abreast of market trends, external industry developments and be expected to lead a variety of strategic projects, from initial analysis through to final recommendation or business case.


Key responsibilities & accountabilities


  • Lead on identifying, analysing, evaluating and recommending new strategic opportunities for Market Development.  Support evolving our product strategies with 5G, IoT, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence using digital channels.
  • Develop financial modelling/analysis to evaluate opportunities, interpret trends and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Develop clear, concise, and compelling executable strategies ready for presentation at the board level with recommendations, solutions, and investment cases.
  • Monitor market, competitor, and industry insights to identify new growth areas and their impact on the current strategy in a systematic way.
  • Lead and own multiple internal consulting style strategy projects, taking responsibility for their end-to-end delivery


Essential skills, knowledge, or experience


  • Extensive practical experience of strategy development and proven experience in product strategy with a B2B focus
  • Good understanding of 5G, IoT, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, digital channels and strategic awareness of the telecommunications and technology B2B market landscape
  • Customer insight and data-driven/ metric focused and highly numerate and analytical, able to develop business cases and new business or commercial models (including financial impact, P&L modelling, IRR, payback etc)
  • Strong communicator with excellent influencing skills and ability to translate complex ideas into clear compelling strategy presentations
  • Self-motivated with good organisational and time management skills
  • Experience in managing strategic projects and cross-functional teams
  • Curiosity to discover and learn about new technologies, ideas, concepts, and trends.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders across business; an ability to challenge, successfully influence and hold others to account
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • An inquisitive, tenacious approach to problem-solving, showing initiative and determination, with an ability to quickly get to grips with new subject matter
