About the Team


The Data Products team within O2 Digital’s New Product Innovation function has been created to drive forward innovation in our data insight products. We work across the transport, retail, media and smart cities sectors to deliver insights based on a diverse range of datasets, including data created by O2’s mobile network, data from other parts of O2 and data created by IOT sensors.


About the Role


The analytics manager will develop big data products. They will write and optimise code to create and improve data products, used to deliver insights to a wide range of clients. Working within an agile product development team, the analytics manager will be jointly accountable for the quality and development of our data products.


Key Responsibilities


  • Writing and optimising code to develop our data products which use big data created by the mobile phone network
  • Applying data analytics, data science and data visualisation techniques to manipulate, present and visualise mobile network data
  • Developing and operating software in Python to automate our data products and monitoring their performance
  • Using our products to deliver outputs to clients, accountable for project deliverables worth up to c£1m per year.
  • Lead the development of new methodologies and products, coaching the analysts in the team and driving improvements in quality
  • Support the commercial team by providing sales collateral and input to proposals and presenting at client meetings
  • Collaborating as part of an agile team to drive innovation in our products.
  • Develop their technical expertise and share this expertise with others in the wider team


Key Skills/Experience




  • Good degree in a relevant subject (Computer Science, Maths, Physical Sciences or similar)
  • Experienced in analysing data and presenting and visualising complex ideas to customers
  • Good standard of written and spoken English
  • Experience of using code to analyse data
  • Experience of solving complex problems
  • Experience of working as part of a team




  • Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Experience with SQL and/or Python
  • GIS experience
  • Agile project management experience
  • Tableau or similar data visualisation experience
  • Sector expertise in transport, retail, media or Smart Cities
