Job Title: Technical Product Owner

Reporting to: Senior Product Development Lead

Department: Business/ Market Development

Directorate: Product Engineering

Location: Hammersmith (hybrid working)

As a Technical Product Owner, you'll work closely with the IoT product managers, suppliers and colleagues within CTO and CIO to translate business requirements into technical requirements and own the development of appropriate solutions in a timely and efficient manner.

Market Development sits within Virgin Media O2 Business and is the team responsible for driving growth to the organisation by establishing new and digital-first revenue streams from high-growth markets like 5G, IoT, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. Key Responsibilities


  • You will be responsible for coordinating product development between IT and Product Management for IoT and connectivity propositions and associated products and services within the portfolio, including LPWAN, eSIM, connectivity platforms etc.
  • Define a technical strategy for our IoT connectivity propositions including developing propositions, ensuring that our products are future-proofed and ensuring that our solutions have clear technical requirements and will meet customer needs.
  • Work closely with relevant Stakeholders to ensure that the necessary support is in place for projects in terms of engagement, requirements capture, and trials.
  • Support in OPEX/CAPEX review with IT/Product management to ensure it falls within budget
  • Support the Product Management team with technical aspects of the SIM Management platform


Essential skills:


  • Strong technical product, proposition and services experience with equal comfort on technical delivery, in IOT or Connectivity
  • Domain expertise in IoT and/or Connectivity, including relevant professional experience
  • Ability to work in an agile way that delivers profitable outcomes at a pace
  • A strong customer focus: ability to deal with and capture insights and requirements from customers and translate them to activities that deliver mutual benefit
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and delivering under pressure in complex fast-paced environments.
  • A team player who is highly skilled in working with colleagues from across the business, suppliers and customers
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical problems in a simplified way
  • An organised individual, capable of managing multiple products or projects which cross different areas of the organisation
