Open Gateway is a groundbreaking initiative led by GSMA in the telco industry, aiming to revolutionize communication networks by transforming them into platforms. The objective is to unlock open telco capabilities in a seamless, standardized, and programmable manner. These capabilities are made accessible through globally recognized APIs, following the framework of CAMARA, an open-source project collaboratively led by the Linux Foundation and GSMA.

MISSION

 

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Global PMO Manager to join our dynamic team within the OpenGateway Global Delivery Area. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of key projects within our Business Units (in Spain, Germany, Brasil, UK, Hispam) and will play a critical role in overseeing project delivery, governance, and reporting. You will also collaborate in the integration with relevant partners worldwide, that are joining to the OpenGateway Inititiative.

 

As part of the PMO team in the Delivery Global Area, the PMO Manager will be instrumental in managing complex, multi-regional initiatives, aligning project objectives with the strategic goals of the organization, and ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

 


MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Project Governance & Coordination: Develop and maintain project governance frameworks to ensure consistency across multiple business units.
  • Project Planning Execution & Follow-up: Work closely with Delivery Managers, OB Product Managers, Product Managers, OB PMOs and GBUs Project Managers to ensure the efficient and effective execution of multiple projects.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between business units, internal Telefónica Units and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth collaboration and timely reporting.
  • Risk Management: Provide e2e vision of the project to identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, ensuring escalation when necessary.
  • Project Performance Monitoring: Track project progress, ensuring KPIs, milestones, and deliverables are met. Regularly update management on project health and performance.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Ensure consistent reporting on project status to upper management
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives for project processes, methodologies, and PMO practices.

 

 

NATURE OF PROBLEMS & CHALLENGES

 

  • Provides oversight of organization’s projects
  • Maintaining best practices within all involved teams
  • Drive improvements into the PMO program and ensure industry best practices are leveraged
  • Documenting and reporting project status to different stakeholder
  • Provide guidance and direction to leaders across all the organization
  • Manage project risks and issues and implement mitigation plans.
  • Ensure that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

 

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer/Telecommunications/Industrial Engineering or related technical field.
  • Any project management certifications (PMP, SAFe, or similar certifications) are a plus.

 

 

 TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS 

 

  • Proven work experience as a Project Management Officer or similar role
  • Proven experience managing large-scale and complex projects, especially in multi-geographic regions.
  • Experience working with different stakeholders
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to details and technicalities
  • Excellent organizational and technical abilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good interpersonal and multi-tasking skills
  • Manage uncertainty and can navigate the unknown
  • Proven experience in agile project management methodologies (i.e Agile, Scrum...)
  • Strong experience working with project management and reporting tools (i.e. Jira, Project, PowerBI …)
  • Resilient (not always everything ends as expected!)
  • Teamwork, enjoy working together and open to share ideas/support

 

                 

 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 

 

  • 3-4+ years of experience in project management, ideally within telecommunications, technology, or a large-scale software development environment.
  • 2-3+ years of experience on telecommunications industry
  • Driven, self-motivated, results oriented
  • Proved experiences leading projects in Telefonica will be positive evaluated

 

LANGUAGES 

 

  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Portuguese or German will be valued.
