Job description

We are recruiting a Manager EU Affairs to join our Brussels Office and help it succeed to meet its targets related to advocacy and intelligence gathering  of Telefónica’s Group positions in the telecoms, digital and technology domains. This manager will be particularly focused in German stakeholders in European institutions which could be relevant for Telefonica S.A. and Telefonica Deutschland.

The Manager EU Affairs will deploy intensive networking skills to collect from the wide range of stakeholders involved in policy making in Brussels, relevant information on political priorities and legislative developments of interest to Telefónica’s Group.  It will also actively engage to convey Telefónica’s vision and priorities in the legislative process, leveraging on a deep understanding of digital matters and the decision making process of the EU institutions. 

The Manager EU Affairs will report to the Director of Brussels Office, part of the Chief Public Policy, Competition and Regulatory Officer team and  structure. Additionally, his/her work will mean to be permanently connected with the Regulatory and Public Policy team in Telefonica Deutschland.

 

Skills we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in Brussels, gained through close interaction or directly working for the EU institutions preferably in the telecoms/digital regulation domain.
  • Proven excellence in building and maintaining constructive advocacy with a network of stakeholders, and gathering relevant policy and regulatory intelligence of interest to Telefónica’s Group.   Added valued when those stakeholders are German.
  • Excellent communication and social skills, ability to engage naturally and build trust based relationships founded in the core values of the company.    
  • Strong ability to structure and present Telefónica’s Group positions to the relevant stakeholders with outstanding negotiation and consensus building skills. 
  • Robust advocacy, personal and professional, skills.
  • It is especially important for this position a balanced personality, team oriented, cooperative and collaborative style.   
  • University level education, preferably a master’s degree in international relationships, economics, law, political science or computer science.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken German and English. Working knowledge of Spanish and French would be an asset.
