Short-Term Research Project on Cloud Computing, ML and Orchestration

Telefonica Research is hiring for short-term research project on Cloud Computing, ML and Orchestration.

Telefonica Research is a leading industrial research lab based in Spain. At Telefonica Research, we follow an open research model in collaboration with Universities and other research institutions, promoting the dissemination of scientific results both through publications in top-tier peer-reviewed international journals and conferences and technology transfer. Our multi-disciplinary and international team counts several full-time researchers, holding PhD degrees in various disciplines of computer science and electrical engineering.

We are looking for a researcher (close to finishing their PhD or in early stages after the PhD) to join our team of experts who are working on a project to leverage AI techniques for creating an efficient and-to-end framework for monitoring, deployment and orchestration in the edge to cloud continuum. During this short-term project, which can last up to 6 months, the researcher will help us create tools to be used in heterogeneous environments, possibly merging them with K8s. This project also includes using efficient monitoring tools, and to add on top of such tools an AI layer that allows them to detect anomalies and use such information to improve the deployment and orchestration of the running application (workflow) in order to meet SLO/SLA requirements.

Qualifications: 

• PhD (or near completion) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

• Experience in cloud computing systems, orchestration, monitoring tools and techniques

• Strong understanding and experience of deep neural networks and other machine learning methods

• Proficient in programming languages such as C, C++, Python

• Experience with prototyping, as well as state-of-the-art systems (K8s, etc.)

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
